Job Description

We are working with a forward-thinking early years provider that is passionate about delivering high-quality education in a nurturing, creative environment. Their aim is to inspire young children, support families, and build strong, values-driven teams that prepare children for the world around them.

They are now looking for an Assistant Deputy Manager to support the nursery leadership team and help guide a dedicated group of Early Years Educators. This role is ideal for an experienced early years professional who enjoys leading by example, supporting operational excellence, and maintaining outstanding standards of care and education.

Key Responsibilities

As Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the nursery, supporting leadership with operations, quality, and team development. You will step into a leadership role when required and help ensure the nursery continues to grow, improve, and thrive.

  • Create a warm, safe, and inclusive environment for children, families, and staff.

  • Work closely with the Deputy Manager to deliver high-quality education aligned with the nursery’s curriculum and values.

  • Promote safeguarding and wellbeing, acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead when required.

  • Support ongoing self-evaluation and ensure improvement actions are implemented effectively.

  • Oversee health and safety practices, including daily checks and risk assessments.

  • Coach, mentor, and motivate team members through feedback, supervision, and development opportunities.

  • Assist with staffing and operational tasks such as rotas, recruitment, and room support when needed.

Requirements 

  • Previous experience in a nursery leadership role (such as Room Manager, Third in Charge, or Deputy Manager).

  • A strong understanding of early years regulations and inspection frameworks (desirable).

  • Experience supporting operational performance, including staffing levels and team deployment (desirable).

  • A commitment to delivering excellent parent and customer experience.

  • A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above).

  • Paediatric First Aid and safeguarding training, with a willingness to keep all certifications up to date.
